Flintstone working toward Spartan offer

SWARTZ CREEK, Mich. - He is one of the fastest rising players in the class of 2012 this summer and a big reason why Javontae Hawkins is seeing his stock rise is his ability to rise.

Hawkins, who is going to start his junior year at Flint Powers this fall, is one of the most explosive leapers regardless of class. Hawkins has the kind of hops reminiscent of current Spartan Durrell Summers. Hawkins put on a display of athletic ability and some solid all-around skills to boot during action at the Great Lakes Summer Championship at The Cage in Swartz Creek.

Playing for Team Detroit, Hawkins threw down four highlight-reel dunks during their 68-60 win against Dorian's Pride. One of Hawkins' most impressive dunks was a tap dunk on the offensive glass. Hawkins kept himself busy on both boards throughout the game. While he has impressive leaping skills, his willingness to battle on the boards on the offensive glass was a key for Team Detroit.
