Kansas State surges past CU, 87-71
BOULDER, Colo. -- The Colorado men's basketball season, which was marred before the Buffaloes even played a game, reached a new low on Saturday afternoon.
Kansas State defeated CU, 87-71, handing the Buffs their ninth home setback. It sets a new school record for the most home loses in a season.
Led by Richard Roby's 14 first half points, Colorado actually led by one point going into halftime. But the Wildcats went on a 13-0 run early in the second half and they extended the lead to 20 points with 2:34 remaining.
"We played a pretty good defensive half the first half, holding them to 29 points," Colorado head coach Ricardo Patton said after the game. "But unfortunately in the second half we allowed them to score 58 points on 66 percent field-goal shooting.
"You can always point to your defense and our defense was certainly poor particularly in the second half."
