Secondary prays, plays for Andrews
Florida State's other players and coaches had retreated to the locker room for head coach Bobby Bowden's pre-game speech, but Florida State's defensive backs had other business to address.
With just minutes remaining before they were to kick off their game Saturday against visiting Alabama-Birmingham, the Seminoles' secondary members huddled together near the Florida State sideline. The same sideline defensive coordinator Mickey Andrews has marched along for each of the past 24 seasons.
Senior safety Roger Williams said the prayer, and the other young men that came to Florida State to play for Andrews kneeled together tightly; their arms resting on their teammates' shoulders.
