A&M starts strong and holds off LSU, 72-61
HOUSTON, Texas - Texas A&M hasn't gotten off on a good foot at the beginning of games during a five-game win streak as the Aggies had to come from behind in each game to earn the victory. Saturday, however, the Aggies' only deficit came at 2-0 in the first minute, which quickly turned into a 9-2 lead over the next five minutes.
The Aggies (10-1) never trailed the rest of the way as they earned the 72-61 win over previously unbeaten LSU (8-1) at the Toyota Center in Houston, and it was A&M's big three who took charge.
"The whole difference was that we guarded from the first possession today. It's been taking us time to get our defense going, but today we guarded from the very first possession and our guys were dialed in," said A&M head coach Mark Turgeon. "Today was by far the best team that we've played and the most complete that we've played as a team."
