Russell is now a Bulldog
One of the most important documents came across the fax machine inside the Bryan Athletic Administration Building Wednesday morning.
That significant sheet of paper was the facsimile of the national letter of intent signed by four-star quarterback Tyler Russell.
The 6-foot-4, 200-pound signal caller from Meridian, Miss., made things official in signing with Mississippi State and giving Bulldog fans everywhere hope for a bright future.
Russell led Meridian to a 14-1 record and a 5A State Championship title completing 206-of-314 passing for 3,284 yards, 40 touchdowns and five interceptions as a senior. He already has plans on taking the Bulldogs to a championship as well.
"One of our goals is an SEC Championship and then a national championship," Russell said. "That is every team's goal. The SEC is the best conference to play in and it's going to be tough. We are going to have some rough times and some shaky times but I really do think this class is capable of bringing one of those home along with the guys that are already on the Mississippi State roster and Coach (Dan) Mullen coming in with his offense and all the new coaches. I really think that it is going to work out for us."
