June 8, 2011After being ineligible last semester due to academics, Ashley Wilson will not be resuming her basketball career at Purdue this fall as expected.
The sophomore forward has decided to transfer, according to a release from the university this evening.
"Ashley has been a valuable member of our program and we appreciate her contributions as a person and as a student-athlete," Coach Sharon Versyp said in a release. "We support Ashley's decision to transfer to an institution that is more suitable to reach her goals. We want her to be successful and wish her the best in her future."
Wilson, an undersized but physical forward, played in 44 games in two seasons at Purdue, averaging five points and four rebounds for her career. Last season, she started five games, of 12 total, and averaged 5.3 points. But she was sidelined for the spring semester as the Boilermakers advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Wilson is the only expected personnel loss for the Boilermakers, who were without seniors last season.
