May 15, 2012Early indications would seem to be that the NBA has legitimate interest in former Purdue star Robbie Hummel.
It was significant for Hummel to have drawn an invite to the league's pre-draft camp, to be held in Chicago June 6-10.
"That's a pretty big deal," Hummel said. "(Agent Mark Bartlestein) was pretty excited about that."
Additionally, Hummel has a trip to San Antonio set for next week, May 22, to work out for the Spurs and has been lined up for a group workout in Minneapolis, with every NBA team expected in attendance to observe the two dozen or so players there.
Hummel's been working out and training in Indianapolis.
Since the season ended, Hummel's hope has been that he'd experience vast physical improvement as his surgically repaired knee got more and more time to recover.
So far, so good.
"I've improved so much from being able to work out every day, with the weights every day and the basketball workouts I've been doing in Indianapolis," Hummel said. "It's been great. I think I've regained some explosiveness, speed and athleticism. I'm really happy with where I am right now."
