Defensive end Antoine Miles came on his official visit this weekend suspecting he might commit to the Boilermakers provided all went well during the trip.
"I wouldn't say I came to Purdue expecting to commit," Miles said, "but I knew in the back of my head it was possible. I knew that if I really liked it, I might commit while I was down there."
The lineman from McKinley High School in Canton, Ohio, became the second of this weekend's official visitors to commit to new Purdue coach Darrell Hazell, joining fellow Ohioan Dezwan Polk, a linebacker from Columbus.
"I loved the visit," Miles said. "When I went there, it was really welcoming. Everybody was nice, all the coaches made me feel like I was at home and all the players took me under their wing. It was just a good visit."
The 6-foot-3, 250-pound Rivals.com three-star prospect chose Purdue over Kentucky, West Virginia and Pittsburgh, among several others, and fills a position of important need in the Boilermakers' 2013 recruiting class: Defensive end.
Purdue doesn't yet have a defensive line coach in place, but Miles said he spent time watching Florida State film with new defensive coordinator Greg Hudson and meeting with Hazell.
"I like Coach Hazell," Miles. "I feel like he's going to do big things for this program and really put the program on the rise. He's excited and I'm excited. Everybody's excited."
