Here is the list if Painter does leave:

1) Stevens
1a) Zo
2) we are screwed.

In essence if Painter leaves those are the only two coaches I think Purdue fans would even be willing to look at. No one else (Smart at VCU etc...) knows Indiana like they do and could step in and keep the recruits coming right away. Anything else is a huge step back.

MB will just have to take his PSL money and transfer it to Painter's account.

Painter's not leaving but I would Stallings in that 1c level. That is all

just saying IF for some reason he did there are only 2 coaches that MB could hire that could keep Purdue fans from lighting MB's office on fire. Stallings is probably too old at this point (early 50's I think) to look at and though he has a lot of wins, does not have the "lots of wins with no FF" tag that is the last thing Purdue fans want as a tag on their head coach.

Maybe not Missouri, but what about South Carolina? I hear they bribe their incoming coaches with Augusta National memberships (Holtz then Spurrier). Now thats something that money can't buy.

Painter is not leaving IMO.

However, it is good business to allow your personal stock to be elevated by being mentioned in these situations. It makes your employer take notice and rethink how they compensate you. Often, a good employer will proactively make a move to solidify a good employee. By letting some of this sit out there for people to talk about, Painter is allowing for some of this to happen. There is no fallout for recruits right now because it is all banter on blogs right now.

If MB wants MP long term, he'll take steps to lock him in. If he thinks everything will be ok with a Cuonzo if MP left; he'll roll the dice. I think there is no guarantee that Brad Stevens would just jump on a Purdue offer.

If MP leaves, he leaves for a bigger program than this. He doesn't just leave because the money is better. He'll use these opportunities to negotiate more for the program. It's bargaining and its business. I have no issue with it.
