I agree about your throwing under the bus part but just not a fan of Cardova.

If your guaranteed numbers are right in what it takes to keep Painter, Purdue needs to find a few hundred grand per year by tomorrow afternoon. Or, maybe they just need to feel more heat from negotiations ad then boom, it appears.

Buddy Baker, Painter's agent, is a Purdue guy. He was a student assistant during the Keady era. He represents a number of Purdue athletes in the pros. He is ultimately doing what is good for Painter but part of that is assessing what Painter's market value is. I completely expect that Purdue will put together a package that will keep Painter as long as Missouri doesn't do something crazy. The numbers thrown around so far aren't far off what Purdue is already prepared to pay if all the bonuses were realized. Purdue will likely tie him up for 7-10 years with a large buy out if they reach over 2 million a year guaranteed.

If things don't work out, I think Purdue will land either an established coach with Purdue ties or an young coach with potential and a track record. With the facilities improvement and the foundation Painter has built, things are much better now than when we hired Painter.

Let the process play out and wait to see what happens before all the KHs throw Morgan, Matt, Cordova, Hope, the current and former players and the cheerleaders under the bus.
