Matt has been to Missouri -- just not during this recruitment of him. His Purdue team played there on December 8, 2007. Matt had a chance to see and feel the 15,000+ seat Mizzou Arena. No doubt he saw a lot more. (BTW the score was Mizzou 73 - Purdue 63.

A couple thoughts. It's obvious that Missouri is after Painter big time. If Painter was so interested in the Missouri job one would think Matt would make the trip to Missouri. If Matt is still in Florida he doesn't have a feel for the support that Missouri offers. And if he does than he was checking this out before the season was over and I say good bye Matt.
This is about money. Money for his assistants and guaranteed money for himself. How would you feel if your biggest rival is being paid considerably more guaranteed money than you and yet has won fewer games total in the last three years than you have averaged over that same time span. Painter is striking while the iron is hot, he knows the next few years will be down some. For all we know Burke is in on the gig. The money is there to pay MP and his assistants an extra 1m combined per year.
