SU first to offer QB

Jackson, Miss., quarterback Ryan Buchanan has slowly started to see his offers filter in. His first offer was from Syracuse.

"Syracuse offered me about a month ago," Buchanan said. "It was my first offer and any school that gives you that first offer it means a lot, it is a big deal. I was impressed by them and I like Coach Hackett a lot. When he came down here to Jackson to see me and he was a pretty cool guy. I was excited when they offered."

The 6-foot-3, 208 pound gunslinger would have a lot of ground to cover if he wants to make a visit up to Syracuse. With that being said the prospect does want to make a visit north and may use an official visit for the trip.

"Coach Hackett and I have talked about a visit, but I will probably talk about it more a little later. It is tough now though because I am a three sport athlete. Coach Hackett told me that he does not want to pressure me to get up there and he understands the distance between Jackson and Syracuse. I might save an official visit for Syracuse, but I am not sure yet."

Besides Syracuse two other schools have stepped up with an offer and a third could be on its way.

"Ole Miss and Mississippi State offered and Arkansas is interested in they want to see me in person first before they offer. There are other schools involved also."

A decision is not expected anytime soon, but the quarterback prospect does have a time frame in mind.

"After I go on visits during the summer probably sometime towards the end of summer I will make a decision."
