Spartans evaluating Toledo Tight End

One of the top tight end recruits in the Midwest for the class of 2013 is Keith Towbridge of Toledo Central Catholic High School in Ohio. caught up with the 6-foot-5, 245-pound prospect and got the latest details on his recruitment.

Towbridge has seen his recruiting stock rise steadily this spring and he now has a solid list of BCS and MAC scholarship offers. asked him about the schools that have offered and other schools that are currently showing him a lot interest.

"I have offers from Louisville, Kentucky Nebraska, Illinois, Bowling Green and Toledo," he said. "A lot of other schools are showing interest such as Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue and Note Dame. Everybody is showing a lot of love so I really do not have a favorite at this point"

When asked about the Michigan schools Towbridge had the following to say:

"I like both of them. I was at Michigan State's Camp last summer and I went to a game last fall. I have been up to Michigan for a visit and right now I am hearing a lot from Coach Borges, Coach Ferrigno and Coach Montgomery."

Towbridge informed us that he was at the Michigan State vs. Wisconsin game last fall and was able to take in the game-day atmosphere. He definitely liked what he saw in East Lansing. We asked him what he is looking for in a college that will help him make his college choice

"I am looking for several things. The academics they have are important and the surrounding of the university. I want to feel comfortable about going there even if I was not playing football. As for football, I want to go to a place where they have good coaches who are able to get the most of the players. I also want to go to a school that uses the tight end a lot."

Towbridge has indicated that he plans on making his college choice prior to his senior year. He will be taking several unofficial visits this spring and he does intend on making it to several camps this summer as well. What can a team expect from him if he decides to make a commitment to them?

"My strengths are my ability to catch the ball in any situation, he said. "I can be a good blocker when needed. I like to be aggressive on every snap. I am going to work hard both on and off the field." will be sure to keep an eye out for Towbridge at the Columbus NIKE Camp and if he stops into the Spartan 1-Day Elite Player Camp in July. Michigan State is being very selective about scholarship offers for the class of 2013, but Towbridge is on the short-list of tight ends that the staff is closely evaluating.
