NFL Boilers: Preseason 2012
Tight end Dustin Keller expects to be ready for New York's opener, after suffering a hamstring injury on the first play of the Jets' third preseason game.
That'd be good news for a New York team that has yet to score an offensive touchdown this preseason. In New York's loss to Carolina Sunday night, Keller caught a pass downfield before coming up lame and dropping to the turf. He won't play in New York's final preseason game.
Several Boilermakers have not survived the first major cutdown day, as NFL teams drop to the mandated 75 players. Among the cuts are Nick Mondek and Torri Williams (Houston); Jared Crank (Arizona); and Carson Wiggs (Seattle). Also, Royce Adams had been cut previously by the Jets.
Nick Hardwick, who had been considering retirement during the offseason before opting to resign with San Diego, has suffered a concussion. It might have him again thinking of how long he'd like to put his body at risk long term.
Dallas linebacker Anthony Spencer missed the first couple preseason games with a hamstring injury, but returned for Game 3 and looked good.
He's on a one-year franchise tag deal with the Cowboys.
Ray Edward had a rough go in his first season in Atlanta, but is thankful for a fresh start with the Falcons.
Edwards, who has dabbled in off-the-field businesses, from boxing to clothing, has now started a modeling agency.
Speaking of business, Bernard Pollard spent his offseason developing an app for a card game.
