NFL Boilers: Reeves back for Week 1 2012
Jacques Reeves is back in the NFL after a two-year absence. And not only that, but the veteran cornerback is starting for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Reeves had a good reason for his absence, as he was home caring for his ill mother.
But back now, Reeves had four tackles in his start for the Chiefs on Sunday.
Safety Bernard Pollard, who had a nice game Monday night for the victorious Ravens, is preparing for life after football.
The way he's been playing of late - six tackles and (more impressively) two pass breakups in a Monday night win over Cincy - for Baltimore, it doesn't seem like that will come any time soon.
For the second consecutive season, Anthony Spencer is in a contract year for the Cowboys. And although he's in the shadows of DeMarcus Ware, Spencer had a good first game, according to his coach.
Drew Brees suffered through one of his most topsy-turvy starts in the 2012 debut, when he threw for more than 300 yards but completed less than 50-percent of his passes.
He says the Saints couldn't find their rhythm in a home loss to Washington.
It was one of the more surprising defeats of the first NFL weekend.
Another small Brees' note. Monday, Denard Robinson was named the Big Ten Player-of-the-Week for the eighth time in his career, tying Brees for second all-time.
Tight end Kyle Adams, who made his first career catch Sunday, is nursing a bad shoulder.
He won't have much time to recover, with the Bears playing the Packers on Thursday night.
Uche Nwaneri too is having an injury issue, coming out of Sunday's game with an ankle injury, only to return later.
The following is a look at the NFL Boilers, their roles and their Week 1 statistics.
