Shrewsberry off to the NBA

After two seasons on Purdue's staff, Micah Shrewsberry is leaving the Boilermakers for a position on Brad Stevens' staff with the NBA's Boston Celtics, according to multiple sources.

The move reunites Shrewsberry with Stevens, for whom he worked at Butler for four seasons prior to his move to Purdue. The Bulldogs played in the national title game the final two of those seasons.

Shrewsberry, GoldandBlack.com has learned, was also offered the chance to return to Butler to be associate head coach under new coach Brandon Miller, but will move to the professional ranks instead.

Shrewsberry will assume an assistant coaching position for the Celtics, which just hired Stevens from the college ranks to oversee what is expected to be a significant rebuilding job following the departures of most of the team's big-name players the past two off-seasons.

An official announcement on the hiring is not expected in the immediate term and it is expected Shrewsberry will remain with Purdue for a period of time during this crucial July recruiting period.
