Game Breakdown
Rider has more size on its roster than your typical low-major non-conference opponent, with every player on its roster standing taller than 6-foot and a few 6-7 wings that, at least on paper, might give the Boilermakers more of a Big Ten-like look on the perimeter.
"They have bigger wings," Coach Matt Painter said. "They have some interior guys, especially their 4, who can go inside and out and cause some matchup problems. So I think that's a little bit different.
"I think the other teams we played had a lot of quickness at all spots and they have it at a couple spots. Those other guys they have that are kind of combo forwards or big guards are traditional athletic wings."
Daniel Stewart, a 6-7 senior, scored 24 points in Rider's season-opening loss to Lehigh.
Of note: Rider's next game will be against Purdue's last opponent, Central Connecticut. That has nothing to do with anything, but a coincidence. … Former Connecticut star and NBA player Donyell Marshall is an assistant coach for the Broncs. … Purdue is 8-0 all-time against teams from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, with several of those wins coming in recent seasons, with NCAA Tournament wins over Siena and Saint Peter's and a win over Iona in Puerto Rico. The Boilermakers play Siena again next Sunday.

Prediction: Purdue improved between Game 1 and Game 2 and should continue that trajectory while it's fair to assume the Rider matchup is one that could allow the Boilermakers to play to their strengths in the frontcourt more than their prior two games did. Purdue 90, Rider 66
