Bailey on board
Purdue landed its third linebacker commitment Sunday, when Ohio's Markus Bailey chose the Boilermakers over Duke and others.
"It was just how comfortable I felt with the coaching staff and how comfortable I feel with how they're going to turn this program around," Bailey said. "I want to be part of something special, part of this building process."
The Rivals.com three-star prospect from Hilliard Davidson High School joins Sawyer Dawson and Wyatt Cook as Purdue's linebacker recruits to date for 2015 and gives it its 11th commitment overall.
The 6-foot-1, 220-or-so-pound outside linebacker narrowed his field of more than a dozen offers down to just the Boilermakers and Blue Devils, along with Indiana, after a round on unofficial visits in June. Among other reported offers were Boston College, Illinois, West Virginia and Pittsburgh.
"I knew that's where I wanted to go and I didn't want to string it out any longer and stress any more about it with (coaches) trying to get me to come to their school," Bailey said. "I knew Purdue was the place for me and I was ready to get it over with and get on board."
Bailey was recruited to play outside linebacker for the Boilermakers.
"Coach (Marcus) Freeman's talked to me where he has me on his board right now, at that (strong-side) linebacker position, or (strong side/weak side), but right now it's (strong side)," Bailey said. "Anything can change when I get there and start training and get to camp because we have two other great linebackers committed in Wyatt Cook and Sawyer Dawson. Sawyer's an outside linebacker too so we'll have to see which one of us fits which side better."
Bailey becomes Purdue's second commitment from Ohio, joining running back Richard Worship.
