Lang setting visits

Florida State would like to sign two defensive ends and one is already in the fold. Darrell Robertson committed to the 'Noles back in September. The list of possibilities for the second defensive end narrowed when Charles Alexander committed to LSU a a few weeks ago.

One possibility is Tucker standout Brandon Lang. The 6-foot-5, 225-pound athlete has a lot of upside potential that has college recruiters excited. So far this season he has 58 tackles, 8 sacks, a fumble recovery for a touchdown and two punt blocks. His team will face off against Statesboro this weekend in the Georgia Dome in the state semifinals.

Even with Tucker making a run at a state championship, coaches from Arkansas, Georgia and Florida stopped by his school last week to visit.

Next month the three-star defensive end takes to the road and has three visits scheduled so far. His first will be to Florida on the weekend of January 9th, followed by Arkansas (1/16) and Nebraska (1/23).

Interestingly, he has yet to scheduled official visits to his two favorites - Florida State and Georgia. So far the Bulldogs are the only team not to offer a scholarship.

"In talking to them they want to wait until I get a decent SAT score," Lang said. "I need at least an 800."

If Lang scores an 800 he will need a 2.55 core GPA to qualify under the NCAA's new sliding scale. If that happens, and he gets the offer he's been waiting for, he is probably headed to Athens to join teammate Thomas Brown.

Lang is rated the No. 15 player in Georgia by Rivals.com
