2014 target sets visit

With its season winding down, Purdue's not wasting any time getting its top Class of 2014 recruits on campus.
Dakota Mathias, a 6-foot-5 wing from Elida, Ohio, said he'll make an official visit to West Lafayette next weekend.

He'd previously visited unofficially for Purdue's home game against Penn State this season, a few weeks before he was offered a scholarship.
"The first time I didn't really get to see campus and everything," Mathias said. "We really just went to the game. So that's pretty exciting."
When Mathias was offered, he suggested it might compel him to make an early decision.
Nothing is imminent, though.
"We're going to play out AAU, at least the first couple weeks of the spring," he said, "but nothing's really changed."
Mathias has also been offered by West Virginia, Boston College Dayton, Akron, Ohio and Belmont. Xavier (who Mathias also expects to visit), Virginia, Butler and numerous others have also shown interest.
The Boilermakers occupy a strong position, though, Mathias said.
"They're up at the top of the list right now," he said.
A first-team all-state player in Ohio this season, Mathias averaged 25.5 points per game for Elida.
