It is another double player day today as we have a wide receiver on offense and a potential starter on the defensive line.

Ben Van Noord - So (RS)

Van Noord is entering his third year in the program and he is one that could see the field a little bit more. He did not record a stat last year, but he saw action in the blowout win over Indiana State and the bowl loss to LSU. He was also an Academic All-Big Ten selection last year.

In high school Van Noord had a solid career. He drew the eyes of coaches as a senior in 2020 with 29 receptions for 539 yards and six touchdowns as a senior. While he projects as a deep reserve behind several options, the factt hat he saw some game action last year is a positive sign.

Damarjhe Lewis - Jr. (RS)

Griffin, GA (Griffin HS)

6'3", 300 pounds

2023 Projection: Possible Starter

Lewis started his career at Indiana, but transferred to Purdue before the 2021 season and was a valuable player immediately. He played in 12 of 13 games in 2021 and even notched three starts. He was a quality depth guy that allowed for a solid rotation of tackles on the line.

Unfortunately, he missed all of last season due to injury. That means this year is a bounceback year. He suffered a broken ankle in preseason camp and didn't play a down all year, despite being projected as a possible starter. Now healthy, he should play a large role up front as an experienced lineman.
