Game Breakdown
Purdue is reeling and must rebound and avoid a tailspin as it's clearly been the most disappointing team here at the Old Spice Classic, brought about during the span of just one half in a 15-point loss to Washington State that the Boilermakers led by 10 at the half.
Changes could be coming to the Boilermaker lineups, as Matt Painter was very unhappy with his team after the Washington State game, especially on defense.
Purdue needed to beat Washington State a day after playing a good second half in a loss to No. 5 Oklahoma State.
Now, it really needs to beat Siena.
On offense, Purdue has a bunch of guys who can score now, but especially on the perimeter, seemingly too many who want to. When Purdue has moved the ball around and played with cohesion, they've been solid. When they haven't, they haven't.
And Purdue is coming off a game in which its big men were total non-factors on offense, a puzzling early season development Purdue will want to remedy as quickly as it can.
Inconsistency has been maddening.
Two games in a row now here at Disney, Purdue's been a totally different team from one half to the next.
On offense, Purdue has a bunch of guys who can score now, but especially on the perimeter, seemingly too many who want to. When Purdue has moved the ball around and played with cohesion, they've been solid. When they haven't, they haven't.
Against Washington State, guards Terone and Ronnie Johnson and Bryson Scott combined to take 40 shots. Everyone else combined to take 16. That would not seem like proper balance.

Of note: According to Purdue's pre-game media materials, Purdue has yet to be credited with a fast-break point here at the Old Spice Classic after coming in averaging 11 per game. … Purdue's now lost its last eight neutral-site games … Siena is now 2-6, having lost its last three, with setbacks to Purdue, Memphis and Saint Joseph's in the Old Spice event. … In two games in Florida, Hammons has been charged with twice as many turnovers (six) as he's taken field goal attempts (three).
Prediction: Purdue has to pass and it has to defend and it has to win. They can't really lose this game, can they? Purdue 76, Siena 68
