KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Purdue's mettle will put to the test at 11 a.m. Friday at the Old Spice Classic against Washington State, a gauge of how the Boilermakers respond after their second-half comeback against fifth-ranked Oklahoma State fell short on Thanksgiving.

Game Breakdown
Guard DaVonte' Lacy scored 26 against Butler Thursday and now averages 21.4 through five games for the 2-3 Cougars, who were tied with Butler late before falling 76-69. Washington State's lost its last three games.
The 6-foot-4, 215-pound Lacy averaged 10-and-a-half a game last season and was Washington State's fourth-leading scorer.
The Cougars do have some size, with 7-foot, 245-pound starting center Jordan Railey, a transfer from Iowa State. Railey averages about two points and two rebounds, though, in limited minutes.
Of note: This game will be played at 8 a.m. West Coast time. ... This is the second consecutive season Purdue's faced a Pac-12 team in its preseason tournament, losing to Oregon State last season at the 2K Sports Classic in New York City. … Third-leading scorer Royce Wooldridge is the son of the late NBA star Orlando Woolridge. … Washington State committed 13 turnovers to just seven assists against Butler, but did win the boards 33-27. … Purdue is 3-0 all-time against Washington State, winning in 1939, 1960 and 1964. …
Prediction: Purdue should be the better team here in a game that may be a tell toward the Boilermakers' focus and maturity. The Oklahoma State game was a big one and Purdue may be riding high after a strong second half. If it carries over, Purdue should stack up well against the Cougars. Purdue 80, Washington State 71
