Defensive lineman commits, a week after visiting

Purdue has landed a commitment from Alabama defensive lineman Jeff Marks after he officially visited last weekend..

Marks, of Mobile, chose the Boilermakers over Southern Miss, which he was scheduled to visit this weekend, but will not.

"The education opportunities are second to none," Marks said. "Great coaches, great players and it just felt like the right place for me."

The 6-foot-2, 255-pounder is expected said he expects to be mid-year enrollee.

He will sign on Wednesday.

Presumably as a result of Marks' decision, fellow Alabama defensive lineman Devin Bell did not make a visit to Purdue this weekend as previously planned.

More to come ...
