Linebacker signs with Purdue
As expected, California linebacker Semisi Fakasiieiki is signing today with Purdue.
The 6-foot-2, 240-pounder from Compton Dominquez in the Los Angeles area officially visited Purdue this past weekend, about a week after the Boilermaker staff jumped into his recruitment.
"I sent in my tape to them a while ago because I'm an outside linebacker, D-end and tight end and they needed a D-end, actually," Fakasiieiki said. "When they saw it, I was playing 'backer (on film). When I took my visit, they said they needed me at linebacker, that they weren't taking any 'backers until they saw my film."
Fakasiieiki chose Purdue over New Mexico in the end, but also held offers from Hawaii, San Diego State and others.
"They said they think I have a lot of raw talent, coming from a small school that doesn't really have much," Fakasiieiki said. "They think I have the potential to skyrocket.
"I'm hard-hitting and I don't give up on tracking down a play. I go full-speed the whole time."
