Offensive lineman commits, signs

As expected, offensive lineman Tanner Hawthorne has committed to Purdue, and subsequently signed.

The lineman from Peoria (Ariz.) Centennial chose the Boilermakers over New Mexico State, Hawaii and other smaller programs after being targeted in recent weeks by Purdue, which needed to round out its offensive line class.

The 6-foot-6, 275-pounder projects to play tackle, and joins fellow high school recruit Grant Hermanns and junior college transfer Jalen Neal as the known O-line recruits in Purdue's class.

"They said they need some tall, lanky guys with quick feet," Hawthorne said prior to committing to Purdue.
