Michigan's frequently won with defense so far this season, with a slew of newcomers helping to slow down Florida, Cincinnati and Air Force.

Perhaps the Wolverines' defensive success hasn't been a surprise, but the offensive struggles — only one touchdown on 10 trips into the redzone — have been. We talked to TheWolverine.com editor Chris Balas to get his thoughts:

GoldandBlack.com: How has Michigan replicated its defensive success this season considering how much talent it had to replace?

Balas: "Jim Harbaugh and staff have recruited extremely well … athletes all over the field. What they’ve lost in experience (several players to the NFL), they’ve actually made up for in some areas in athleticism. The defensive front, for example, is as fast as we’ve seen at Michigan.
