Painter earns Big Ten accolade

Not surprisingly, Boilermaker quarterback Curtis
Painter has been named the Big Ten's co-Offensive Player-of-the-Week, sharing the honor with Minnesota quarterback Adam Weber.

In Purdue's 52-6 win over Eastern Illinois Saturday, Painter completed 38-of-49 passes to 12 different receivers, for 348 yards and a Purdue record-tying six touchdown throws. He now shares that record with Drew Brees and Kyle Orton.
It was the third time Painter's earned the award, landing it twice last season for performances at Northwestern and at Hawaii, the latter coming on a weekend, though, when only Purdue was playing among conference teams.
Weber, a freshman, threw for 368 yards and four scores in the Gophers' triple-overtime win over Miami (Ohio).
