"Working shoulder to shoulder with Kevin the last seven weeks, it became apparent he was the perfect fit for this position," Hope said. "He is a great recruiter who is well versed in the latest techniques and technologies and understands the recruiting calendar. He will hit the ground running in this position, and we won't skip a beat as we move forward in our recruiting efforts for 2013 and beyond."
Maurice has previous experience as a recruiting assistant, first at Cincinnati in 2010 and then at Miami (Fla.) in 2011 before moving on to Nevada-Reno as a graduate assistant coach on offense. He coached the running backs at Midwestern State University in 2009 after serving as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at North Miami High School in 2008.
A Miami native, Maurice played running back at Eastern Arizona College in 2001 and 2002, earning preseason All-America honors his second year. He then transferred to UTEP, where he played for the Miners in 2003 and 2004. Purdue offensive coordinator Gary Nord was UTEP's head coach in 2003. Maurice wrapped up his collegiate days at Saint Joseph's College in 2005 and earned his B.S. degree in criminal justice.
