Purdue offers Benson

After an extended recruitment to this point, Purdue has offered Boilermaker legacy Barret Benson a scholarship, the Class of 2016 center said Thursday evening.
Benson, who was not immediately available for comment, added his parents' alma mater to a list of offers that also includes Indiana, Kansas State, Oregon State, Penn State, DePaul and others.

The 6-foot-10 Hinsdale (Ill.) South High School big man is the son of former Purdue football standout and NFL player Cliff Benson and has visited Purdue multiple times in recent years, whether for camps or recruiting visits. Purdue coaches made multiple trips to Chicagoland during the year to watch him play.
Benson plays for the same Illinois Wolves travel program that produced past Boilermaker signees Kendall Stephens and Jay Simpson.
