Purdue part of crowded mix for transferring wide receiver

Purdue's hit the transfer market full-bore since Jeff Brohm's hiring in December and those efforts have extended to maybe the most coveted free agent on the market right now.

Former Texas Tech wide receiver Jonathan Giles included the Boilermakers on the list of 10 schools he's considering. He tweeted this week that Purdue joins Ohio State, Florida State, LSU, Louisville, Georgia, Wisconsin, Tennessee, SMU and Oregon on his star-studded list of considerations.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pounder from Missouri City, Texas, led the Red Raiders in receiving as a sophomore this past season, catching 69 passes for 1,158 yards and 13 scores.

Barring any waiver scenarios, Giles would be required to sit out next season per NCAA rules, then would have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Purdue has already tapped the transfer market for graduate transfer Corey Holmes from Notre Dame. He'll have two seasons of eligibility, as will incoming junior college signees Isaac Zico and Terry Wright.
