Purdue strikes in Kentucky again for Commitment No. 11

This virtually unprecedented run of early commitments for Purdue continued late Tuesday night, when Kentucky safety/athlete Cory Trice committed to the Boilermakers.

Trice is a former high school teammate at Hopkinsville Christian County of Purdue 2017 signees Kenneth Major and KeyRon Catlett.

"They make me feel home (at Purdue) and I have teammates up there now and would love to play with them again," Trice said Tuesday night.

The 6-foot-4, 190-some-pounder was one of Purdue's earliest offers for 2018, recruited for safety, where he'd bring rarely seen height and length to the position, though some recruiters also showed early interest in Trice as a potential outside linebacker.

Trice held offers from Miami (Ohio), Bowling Green and a number of FCS programs. Michigan State, Louisville and Kentucky were some of those who've recruited him, as well.

Purdue now holds 11 commitments, all of which have come in since last Monday. Trice was the Boilermakers' fourth commitment since Friday and their fourth projected defensive back, joining Elijah Ball, Byron Perkins and Kadin Smith.

He joins Smith and offensive lineman Charles Allen as Boilermaker commitments from Jeff Brohm's native Kentucky.
