Boilermakers land their quarterback

Purdue has landed a commitment from Louisiana quarterback and weekend official visitor Jared Sparks.

Sparks announced his commitment on his Twitter account Sunday night.

The commitment fills Purdue's need for a quarterback, a need that became a pressing one after senior-to-be Austin Appleby's transfer left the Boilermakers with just two scholarship quarterbacks on the roster next season.

Sparks was previously committed to Southern Miss.
