Quick Count: Purdue Practice No. 17

In its shortest practice of camp so far, Purdue hardly was on the field as a full team for 45 minutes on Thursday at the Bimel complex.

• The Boilermakers spent the bulk of practice working on every form of special teams from kickoff return, kickoff coverage, punt return, punt coverage, field goals, field goal blocks and even the most unlikely of scenarios (returning a long missed field goal, for example).

• In a surprise, Cameron Cermin was in a T shirts and shorts. Cermin appeared to tweak his surgerically repaired left shoulder in Wednesday afternoon's practice but later returned to finish practice. Through a sports information rep, Darrell Hazell said Cermin was being held out Thursday only for "rest."

• Purdue's kickoff luncheon is at 11:30 a.m. Friday before a 2 p.m. light practice. The jersey scrimmage is at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday in Ross-Ade Stadium.
