• For the first time this camp, redshirt freshman Elijah Sindelar took significant first-team reps at quarterback. Sophomore David Blough, who started eight games last season, had been taking the majority of the 1 snaps, and Sindelar had been getting one team series per practice. Until Tuesday.

• Another camp first: Purdue's centers struggled to have clean exchanges with the QBs. The most critical error came in the period that had the offense backed up to the goal line and was charged with coming out. But Kirk Barron and Blough had a botched exchange in the end zone, and the defense recovered. Barron is in his first year as the team's starting center, replacing Robert Kugler.

• As Taver Johnson continues to rotate the cornerback, nickel and dime backs, Tim Cason was back with the 1s on Tuesday opposite Da'Wan Hunte at No. 2 CB. Kamal Hardy and Myles Norwood, who also have spent time with the 1s, were with the second-team defense.
