Three-star ATH Jo'Ziah Edmond decommits from Purdue

A notable member of Purdue's 2024 recruiting class has now backed off his initial commitment. Three-star athlete Jo'Ziah Edmond announced Tuesday morning that he has de-committed from Purdue and will explore other options.

Edmond originally committed to Purdue on June 10th, following his official visit to West Lafayette. The Northwood product had been gaining steam on the recruiting trail, earning offers from Wisconsin and Ole Miss before deciding on the Boilermakers. Edmond is the four-best prospect in Indiana and the 43rd athlete in the class, according to Rivals.

Purdue still has three other cornerbacks committed in the 2024 recruiting class, three-star prospects Earl Kulp, William Nettles and Hudauri Hines. Alongside them are defensive backs Koy Beasley, LeonTre Bradford, Luke Williams and D'Mon Marable at the safety spot.

Despite the loss of Edmond, defensive back is set to be a strength for the Boilermakers in the class. The departure drops Purdue to 26th in the Rivals team recruiting rankings for 2024. Ryan Walters and Sam Carter could look to fill the void Edmond left, but there are no imminent targets on the horizon at this time.
