good stuff. yeah, i know Mich. is a "varsity/club" designation. i've rowed with some UM alums, and they claimed they didn't get any trickle down from the women's team being varsity...but i doubt that
i did a USRowing development camp here in Madison many years ago. I don't know if you've seen wisco's boathouse, but it's incredible. an entire fleet of new and not-old vespolis, 8+, 4+, 4- and pairs. have you rowed a pair before? i can see why the top programs train in them so much: if you can row a 2-, fours and eights are beyond easy.
one of the stories about UWashington is that Ernst would send all the varsity men 3 miles out in pairs. the first 4 to the dock got to form the 8 for Head of the Charles. pretty cool stuff
i can't believe you guys are still using the model Bs...those were old when I was on the team!! and that was ~10 years ago! it's times like these i would love to be insanely wealthy....a new fleet/ergs/scholarships for the rowing team, and a check to make Lambert into an ice arena! vbg
that's the great thing about the new boathouse: no more winter training in lambert's dungeon...i spent way too many hours down there
