There is not a more experienced player on Purdue's roster than returning starting center, Gus Hartwig. After being thrust into action as a freshman, where he started six games and was named Honorable Mention All-B1G, he never looked back.
He would start the next 24 games for Purdue, being one of the most durable players on the roster and in all of college football.
But, late during the 2022 season, he would suffer a season-ending knee injury. Now, the to-be senior will likely miss the early part of the 2023 campaign while he continues to rehab.

2023 Projection: Starting Center Once Back from Injury
Gus Hartwig is known for his play on his field, but his commitment to the academic side of his career at Purdue is just as notable.
In three years, he graduated with his Bachelor's Degree in Finance from Krannert. Now, as he enters his fourth year at Purdue, he has begun his Master's Degree in Global Supply Chain Management.
During the 2021 and 2022 seasons, while receiving on-field accolades, he was also named to the All-Big Ten Academic Team as well.
Gus has been named Honorable Mention All-Big Ten three years in a row now. Last year, he was also named to the Remington Watch List, Remington is the award for the most outstanding center each year.
During the 2022 season, Purdue had one of their best-rushing attacks in recent memory. He helped standout freshman runningback, Devin Mockobee break the freshman rushing record with 968 yards on the ground.
While Gus may not start the season on the field, he will eventually return. Purdue fans should be eagerly awaiting his return too, as he is a leader on the field and a great representative for Purdue off the field.
