Boilermakers land Tennessee running back as recruiting run continues
More: Purdue running back targets
Purdue struck its first blow at the running back position for its 2019 class Tuesday when Tennessee's Da'Joun Hewitt committed to the Boilermakers.
The 5-foot-11, 190-pound Rivals.com three-star prospect from Davidson Academy in Nashville chose Purdue over an offer from Rutgers, offers from some smaller schools and increasing Power 5 interest lately.
He becomes Purdue's fourth 2019 commitment, joining defensive lineman George Karlaftis, linebacker Chase Triplett and wide receiver Mershawn Rice.
Hewitt is the first commitment toward what's likely to be a multi-running back class.
