Recruiting Focus: Running back

Recruiting Focus: Wide Receiver | Defensive End

As things have turned out, Purdue's program's past three recruiting classes will be represented by just one player, total this fall, that player being incoming freshman Evan Anderson.

That reality, coupled with an upperclassman-heavy current roster, makes this a key class at the position and Purdue's early-opportunity-driven sales pitch a particularly credible one.

The Boilermaker coaching will need to sign at least two running backs in this class, with quality being as important — as with anything else – as quantity.

Here's a look at some of the early targets.

The fast and versatile Nashville back has visited Purdue and the Boilermakers appear to be in a strong position with him as P5 interest is growing in him. Rutgers offered Monday, to go along with a slew of other offers.

Update: Hewitt committed to Purdue Tuesday

The Georgian says he expects to officially visit Purdue in June. He has the Boilermakers in his top five, along with Louisville, West Virginia, Wake Forest and Iowa State

Hall visited Purdue in the spring for its junior day and has been a priority-level recruit for it, but his recruiting picture. With about a dozen-and-a-half offers — Tennessee and Nebraska among them — he figures to be a pretty highly recruited player, so time will tell about Purdue's staying power with him.

The small, but dynamic and well-rounded, running back from the shadows of Missouri's campus holds an offer from Purdue and several other high-majors, including Northwestern. He said he hopes to visit West Lafayette this summer, but it may have to be an official visit.

The heavily recruited Louisville ATH is officially visiting Purdue June 15. He may project as a linebacker for the Boilermakers, but as long as running back is on the table, he bears mentioning.

Vanderbilt, Kentucky and Missouri are his other three scheduled visits and he's said he'd like to visit Stanford after the season, though he'll make a commitment before the season.

The Floridian counts Purdue among a list of national offers that also includes Ohio State, Tennessee and many others at this early stage.

Arkansas and Missouri are among the many who've also offered the well-sized running back.

Logan's offer list includes Miami, Nebraska, Georgia Tech and many, many others.

Purdue's staff covets size at running back among a group that's well balanced, and the fact Wright's a defensive end, too, speaks to that element.

Ohio State is among those who've reportedly offered Wright.
