There is work to be done on my defense, especially in the back end. That is why I chose what I viewed as the best athlete available in Anthony Brown at one of my corners. Brown gives my defense the speed it needs at the corner and Brown is an up-and-comer. His stock was rising as he left Purdue after the 2015 season when he made his way on to one of the best NFL rosters, the Dallas Cowboys. There he wasted little time making an impact with 55 tackles and had one pick as a rookie.
Brown never got fully untracked as a Boilermaker as the Purdue defense was dysfunctional, to put it mildly. Yet, as his career progressed, he improved and his Boilermaker career peaked in his senior season when he had three picks in a win over Nebraska.
High-end talent and speed have not been in abundance over the past two decades in the secondary, but Brown's ability to have his career steadily improve and possibly reach its pinnacle in the NFL, made him worthy of my selection.
