Purdue big man Jacquil Taylor says he's been "fully cleared" to resume basketball activities "with no restrictions" per his Twitter account.
The 6-foot-10, 240-pound post player missed the entire season after undergoing ankle surgery during preseason practice. He returned to light work late in the season, but as of the NCAA Tournament he said he was "not close" to being fully healthy.
This all occurred after he was redshirted as a freshman due to residual limitations from a major injury sustained in high school.
Taylor would be a junior next season for Purdue, though it's conceivable he could one day be a candidate for a waiver that would restore a lost season of competition.
In the short term, Taylor just wants to stay healthy.
If he can, his opportunity might come now.
Should Caleb Swanigan depart for the NBA, considerable post minutes could be available for Taylor, a newcomer or whoever might best take advantage of the opportunity.
Taylor averaged 4.6 minites per game as a redshirt freshman, averaging 1.8 points and 1.5 rebounds.
