Number Crunching: Purdue Football Week 4

Here is our look at some of the relevant and not-so relevant numbers this week in Purdue football:

13 - Different receivers who caught passes against Missouri. It is the most dating back (at least) 10 years.

9 - Backs who had at least one carry against Missouri. That's the most since Sept. 1, 2012 when 10 Boilermakers carried the ball in a 48-6 win over Eastern Kentucky.

72.8- percentage of time the Boilermakers had the ball against the Tigers, (43:43 to be exact). The FBS record for time of possession of 45:15 was set by Air Force in 2016.

1 - Purdue's first win ever against an SEC foe on its home field, while that team was a member of the SEC.

22-28 - Completion numbers of Boilermaker starting quarterbacks in the last two games against Missouri. David Blough hit that number with 187 yards and a touchdown, while Mark Herrmann had 283 yards and four touchdown in the 1980 Liberty Bowl win.

15 - Blough's streak of consecutive games with a touchdown pass, fourth best in the FBS. Penn State's Trace McSorley is tops in the Big Ten (18) and Marshall's Chase Litton is tops nationally with 24. Drew Brees holds the Purdue standard with 18, set in 1998 and part of '99.

1/2 - ... Or better written first half when Blough has dominated in the first three games of 2017. He has completed .882 of his passes (30-of-34, 402 yards and 3 TDs).

75 - Road games since an opposing team gained as few yards in total offense (203) as Missouri amassed. Notre Dame had the identical 203 yards under the Golden Dome in 2002, and lived to tell about it too, beating Purdue 24-17.

2009 - Last year Purdue beat a top-10 team at home (or anywhere), a 26-18 win over No. 7 Ohio State in Coach Danny Hope's first season at the helm. The Boilermakers have lost their last eight games to teams ranked in single digits.

2 - Big Ten titles the Boilermakers have won or shared since 1967. The '67 squad, who earned a share of the league crown with Minnesota and Indiana, will be honored at the game on Saturday.

6 - How many times Michigan has visited Ross-Ade Stadium in the last 21 years, the fewest of the 11 teams that were in the conference back in 1996..

32-31 - Score of the game the last time Purdue beat a top-10 Michigan squad at home, in the infamous (or famous depending on your point of view) Travis Dorsch game-winning, do-over field goal. The Boilermakers won the thriller on Oct. 7, 2000 in the first of a string of key wins that delivered them to the 2001 Rose Bowl.

2-0 - Boilermakers' record the last two times Michigan has visited Ross-Ade ranked in the top-10. Purdue also won 9-3 in 1996, five days after Jim Colletto had resigned as head coach.

56 - Games since Purdue has had a sellout in Ross-Ade, dating back to Joe Tiller's last game as head coach against Indiana on Nov. 22, 2008. That streak could end on Saturday.

1 - Purdue's ranking nationally through three weeks in red zone scoring (100%), team fumble recoveries (6) and individual fumble recoveries (2-Danny Ezechukwu). The Boilermakers are tied with others in all three categories. Cole Herdman is also No. 1 among tight ends in yards per reception (28.6).

4 - Fumble recoveries for Purdue in all of 2016.
