The defensive lineman from Indianapolis' Lawrence Central was part of Purdue's first wave of in-state offers for the first full recruiting class under its new coaching staff, its first strike toward re-establishing its brand in Indiana, particularly in Indianapolis.

Deen committed to the Boilermakers in July following an unofficial visit. He did so over an offer from Cincinnati among others.
