Purdue will give its new lights early exposure next season, when the Boilermakers open their home slate on Friday night, Sept. 8, vs. Ohio.

The game will be the third Big Ten Friday night primetime game next season, with Rutgers and Wisconsin hosting the week before. And it will be the first at Ross-Ade Stadium with permanent lights, after the school announced earlier this year it would spend $5.6 million for a renovation. The Big Ten is requiring it of programs starting next season.

The conference announced six Friday night games on Tuesday afternoon, including at sites Rutgers, Wisconsin, Purdue, Illinois, Maryland and Northwestern. It's the first Friday game at Purdue in the modern era.

Purdue opens the '17 season Sept. 2 Louisville in Lucas Oil Stadium, before returning home to take on the Bobcats.
