Purdue Recruiting Weekend Wrap

IMPORTANT 2017 VISITORS FOR BASKETBALL

More ($): Purdue Class of 2017 targets

Purdue hosted three important Class of 2017 visits - two official, one unofficial - and some key 2019 visitors, among others.

Among seniors, California forward Evan Battey and international center Matt Haarms made official visits to West Lafayette, while Ohio big man Sterling Manley made an unofficial visit.

More ($): Evan Battey update

Battey told GoldandBlack.com Sunday he will decide this week, maybe as soon as Tuesday. Haarms plans official visits to Colorado, Washington State and Vanderbilt for October. Stay tuned later today for more on Haarms.

Manley is one of the hottest prospects in the Midwest, and his unofficial visit to Purdue Saturday could lead to an October official visit. The 6-foot-10 Columbus area native has been looking at Nebraska and Xavier, among many others, but has also fielded new offers from Georgetown, Missouri and Tennessee and interest from North Carolina, among others.

On the 2019 recruiting front, Purdue hosted Fort Wayne forward Keion Brooks, who was offered by the Boilermaker staff in the spring and will have many more before long. Xavier has offered, as well.

He figures to be one of Purdue's highest priorities in the sophomore class.

Purdue also had fellow 2019 target Isaiah Thompson on campus. The younger brother of Purdue's P.J. Thompson, the Zionsville guard is a regular in West Lafayette.

FOOTBALL RECRUITS

More: Purdue 2017 commitments

Purdue hosted an unofficial visit Saturday from quarterback commitment Griffin Alstott during his high school team's bye week.

Alstott was accompanied by his parents, including father and former Purdue star Mike Alstott.

Wide receiver commit C.J. Hayes visited Purdue again, for the third time in as many home dates.

Among other recruits at the Nevada game was New Prairie High School tight end Tynan Williams, who has an offer from Illinois State, but says Purdue is continuing to show interest.

On another 2017 recruiting note: Purdue athlete target Jairus Grissom didn't visit this weekend as planned and committed to Eastern Michigan to play quarterback. Purdue was recruiting the Rivals.com three-star quarterback as a safety.

MORE BASKETBALL RECRUITING NOTES

• Long-time Purdue big man target Xavier Tillman visited Marquette this weekend, his final visit prior to his planned Sept. 30 announcement. He's down to Purdue, Michigan State and Marquette, with the Spartans holding a significant advantage due to it being in-state.

• Purdue guard target Nojel Eastern took his official visit to Michigan State this weekend, but appears to be in no hurry whatsoever to make a decision. He may even opt to wait until spring. Ohio State and West Virginia are among others involved who could get visits. The Evanston (Ill.) High School star visited Purdue at the end of August.
