More: Purdue Class of 2017 commtments

Some of Purdue's verbal commitments react to Sunday's news of Darrell Hazell's firing.

WR C.J. Hayes: "My situation does doesn't change at all. Since this morning I have had five schools contact me. I want to be a part of the new things going on with Purdue. With four receivers graduating at the position, I think it's a great position for me to be in. I do have a lot of coaches that was after me, so I'm praying that Purdue holds on to some of their current staff. Would be grateful if Coach Parker becomes the head coach or someone I'm familiar with. Love what Purdue has to offer. As my dad says, 'There is life after football' and I would love a degree from Purdue University."

(Hayes was at Purdue, with the team, when it was informed of Hazell's departure.)

DB Dedrick Mackey: "It doesn't change anything for me."

(Mackey said he plans to visit Iowa State, but would have anyway.)

RB Antwuan Branch: "It's all good. It didn't change anything for me."

DE Tijaun Mason: "I really just want to finish my senior year of high school (before worrying about it)."

OL Mark Stickford: "I'm still committed to Purdue. It has everything I'm looking for."

OL Jylton Tusha: "Still a very strong commit Coach Hazell was a great guy and it's unfortunate, i liked him a lot, but i have a strong bond with coach funk and coach parker. my decision on purdue has not changed." — Rob Cassidy, Rivals.com

OL Robert Hudson, Walled Lake (Mich.) Western: "It makes things interesting. I've had multiple coaches reach out from other programs. Still committed as of now." — Josh Helmholdt, Rivals.com

CB Mitch West, Lombard (Ill.) Montini: "It doesn't affect the commitment I'm loyal to Purdue for everything they've done for me. Feel bad for coach he was a great guy wish the best to him." — Josh Helmholdt, Rivals.com
