One year ago, Purdue hired Jeff Brohm as its head coach to replace Darrell Hazell.
In his first press conference on Dec. 5, 2016, Brohm said his goal was to bring a creative flare to the Boilermakers, to "stay ahead of the curve" and be "cutting edge."
He could have been talking about his offensive approach, and, in part, he certainly was. But not exclusively.
Brohm probably knew at that point he was bringing in Nick Holt as his co-defensive coordinator and Tony Levine as his special teams coach. And with both of those men — and their personalities — he knew he was getting innovation and aggressiveness.
And that's exactly what Purdue showed at points in Brohm and his staff's first season, en route to a 6-6 regular season that earned the Boilermakers a bowl appearance later this month in California.
On the anniversary of Brohm's hire, we take look back at our favorite "creative" plays from each of Purdue's units — Brohm's offense, Holt's defense and Levine's special teams.
