Isaac Zico figured he’d get another chance.
After the wide receiver had a sure-fire long-ball touchdown glance off his hands then helmet against Nebraska, then saw his snaps dwindle in the weeks afterward, he knew he’d have to capitalize when it did.
And he got the opportunity vs. Indiana, with the former J.C. receiver making up for the past mistake by hauling in a touchdown, the first of his career, that turned out to be the game-winner.
“Oh, Nebraska,” Zico said after Purdue’s first bowl prep practice last week, recalling his drop. “That was probably the most difficult part of the season right there, (being) wide open especially. I stayed confident through it, came out to next week’s practice and gave it all I got, had good effort. As long as I make sure I’m doing what I’m supposed to do in practice, it can play out in the games.
