The Big Ten officially announced its awards for the 2023-24 men's basketball season today and it is no surprise who was named Player of the Year. Zach Edey lead the conference in scoring and rebounding while Purdue won the league by three games, so for the second straight season he takes home league honors.

Edey is also joined on the First Team by teammate Braden Smith:

Smith was second in the league in assists at 7.2 per game behind Minnesota's Elijah Hawkins.

Edey joins Jim Jackson, Mateen Cleaves, and Luka Garza as two-time winners. It is also the sixth time a Purdue player has won the award, joining Caleb Swanigan, Glenn Robinson, JaJuan Johnson, and Steve Scheffler.

With a surprising run to a likely NCAA Tournament bid Fred Hoiberg has been named Coach of the Year. He splits the award with Matt Painter, who wins for the fifth time.

Edey was also named as a First Team All-American by The Sporting News earlier today.

Edey was named to the all-Defensive team, while Lance Jones, Fletcher Loyer, and Mason Gillis were selected to the Honorable Mention All-Big Ten team. Gillis was voted as the Big Ten’s Sixth Man of the Year, while Chase Martin was chosen as the team’s Sportsmanship Award recipient.
